Post-Docs
Angelo Peralta, MPhil, MSc, PhD
Dept. of Surgical and Radiological Sciences
Reesink Lab
Angelo earned his Ph.D. in 2019 from the University of Georgia, where he focused on developing cell type specific glycan profiling methods in Arabidopsis thaliana. He subsequently joined the lab of Prof. Nathan E. Lewis at UC San Diego as a postdoctoral researcher in 2022, developing an AI driven platform for glycan profiling by integrating lectin-based assays with artificial neural networks to predict N glycan structures and their relative abundances. In the fall of 2025, Angelo joined the Reesink Lab as a postdoctoral researcher, where he investigates disease associated glycosylation patterns in osteoarthritis using machine learning and cross species glycomic profiling. He is also developing scalable plate based lectin profiling assays to characterize glycan signatures across veterinary diseases and support biomarker discovery.
Svea Postel
Research Fellow
Svea earned her veterinary degree from the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover, Germany, in 2023. She is a doctoral candidate in the Musculoskeletal Research Unit at the University of Zurich, where she led a clinical study of betulinic acid and NVX-207 for the treatment of equine malignant melanoma. She went on to complete a rotating equine internship at Moore Equine Veterinary Centre in Calgary, Alberta, before joining the Reesink lab in 2026 as a research fellow. Svea is investigating the role of elastin and lubricin in the interfascicular matrix of the equine superficial digital flexor tendon. She plans to pursue an equine surgery residency.
Outside of the lab, Svea enjoys horseback riding, running, and hiking.
